Who this page is for

Critical Infrastructure &
National Laboratories.

For program managers, lab engineers, prime contractors, and infrastructure owners who need industrial control systems that keep doing their job under failure, attack, and disruption. Porritt Inc. is an independent, SAM.gov-registered engineering and software company (CAGE 9Z7B9, Layton, Utah) available for teaming, subcontracting, and direct engagement.

Cyber-Informed Engineering

Consequence first. Then the controls.

We apply Cyber-Informed Engineering (CIE) — the consequence-driven framework developed by Idaho National Laboratory for the U.S. Department of Energy — from the first P&ID forward. Founder Timothy Porritt is a member of the INL Cyber-Informed Engineering Community of Practice. Every Porritt control architecture starts with the question "what must never happen here?" and engineers the answer into the plant, not only into the network.

CIE PRINCIPLES WE DESIGN TO
  • Consequence-focused design
  • Engineered controls and non-digital backstops
  • Secure information architecture
  • Design simplification
  • Layered defenses and active defense
  • Interdependency evaluation
  • Digital asset awareness
  • Resilience planning and engineering information control
What we bring
01 · CYBER-INFORMED ENGINEERING

Consequence-driven design

High-consequence event identification, engineered limits, and control architectures whose worst case is bounded by physics, not firmware.

02 · MISSION ASSURANCE

Functions that cannot be lost

Cooling, containment, shutdown, power delivery: identified, ranked, and protected so they survive the loss of any single system — including the control network.

03 · OPERATIONAL RESILIENCE

Keep running, degrade gracefully

Ride-through design, islanding, manual fallback, and recovery sequencing so a disruption is an event in the log, not a headline.

04 · INDUSTRIAL AI

AI inside the fence line

Offline, no-cloud analysis for standards compliance, event prediction, and materials degradation — NORMEX, NEXUS Event Prediction, MATDEG.

05 · ADVANCED ENERGY SYSTEMS

Fission first, fusion ready

Heat-source agnostic balance-of-plant architecture and supervisory control for advanced fission today and commercial fusion tomorrow.

06 · HPC FACILITIES

Compute as critical infrastructure

Power, liquid cooling, and facility controls for high-performance computing halls, plus SENTINEL — Porritt Inc.'s AI accelerator reliability program.

07 · UTILITY OPERATIONS

Grid-edge control

Dispatch, ramp, frequency response, and interconnect compliance at the plant edge, with protection paths that do not depend on the enterprise network.

08 · ADVANCED MANUFACTURING

Process control for regulated production

Unit-level SCADA, PSM-aware interlocks, and integrity-informed operations for facilities that answer to OSHA, EPA, and their own balance sheet.

09 · COMPLIANCE INTELLIGENCE

Standards you can cite

NORMEX Standards AI and NORMEX Federal: regulatory answers grounded in the governing text, for facilities that answer to Washington.

Discuss a federal or laboratory engagement.

Teaming, subcontracting, SBIR/STTR collaboration, or a direct scope. Start with the consequence you cannot accept.
