SYS 01 · HEAT TRANSPORT

Primary
coolant
loop.

Dual molten-salt loops carry blanket heat to the power island. Intermediate heat exchangers isolate activated coolant from the clean secondary side, with drain tanks and freeze-plug protection on every leg.

What the loop has to do
FUNCTION 01

Move blanket heat, safely

Two independent salt loops carry heat out of the breeding blanket. Each leg is sized for full duty so a single-loop trip never forces a plant trip.

565°C
Loop temp
FUNCTION 02

Keep activated salt contained

Intermediate exchangers put a clean break between activated primary salt and the secondary side, so the power island never sees activated inventory.

Redundancy
FUNCTION 03

Fail into a safe state

Freeze plugs and gravity drain tanks put the salt somewhere passively safe on loss of power — no operator action, no pumps required.

Control the loop.

The coolant loop is supervised by the same Plant Intelligence layer that runs the rest of the balance of plant.
